XS: 13-14 inches (generally suitable for women and children 150cm-162cm in height)
S: 14-16 inches (generally used for 160cm-170cm height riding)
M: 16-18 inches (generally used for riding 170cm-178cm height)
L: 18-20 inches (generally used for riding between 178cm and 185cm)
XL: 20-22 inches (usually used for people above 185cm height)
Remember your position on the bike. When you sit on a bike, your shoulders should be relaxed and your elbows bent slightly. When you step down, make sure your knees are slightly bent. If you don't feel comfortable riding, consider getting a different model.
Adjust your finger and brake.
Learn about bicycle changes. Different companies have different sizing systems, but so do bikes. Here are some basics:
Road bikes, bike crossings, and hybrid bike sizes usually run 3-4 "for the same rider height. If you're looking at one of them, adjust as needed. Hardtail bikes and full suspension bikes are the same size. The main difference is cost and what kind of roads they can handle. Full-suspension bikes have better cushioning and can handle more dramatic road conditions. Still, the hard tail is definitely more flexible to handle.
